OK, what the hell is going on in Florida?
A few times a year I tell myself ,”That’s it, I’m gonna do it, I’m going to get out of this crazy self-destructive PC infested shit-hole state”. Florida is usually at the top of my list of possibilities; great weather, low taxes, affordable housing, and lots of stuff to do. But just when I get serious, another story bubbles up that either has to do with depravity, criminality, oddity, or sheer lunacy. Is Florida the biggest insane asylum on the planet?
Will used to have a running feature post series at the other site titled something like ,”Florida or Germany, you pick” where someone would do something right out of Darwin’s Law (of course, they never died, nope, too many good gene traits to disseminate), and most of them lived in Florida. Rules, probity, decency, family values…………..not here, we got that whole march/different beat/drummer thingee down cold;
A father and daughter were arrested Tuesday in Florida after allegedly being caught having sex in their back yard, according to reports. Justin Bunn, 39, and his 19-year-old daughter, Taylor Bunn, were taken into custody after witnesses told Panama City police they spotted them having sexual intercourse in a back yard, the Northwest Florida Daily News reported. Both father and daughter confessed to having consensual sex but claimed it was an isolated incident, police said. The Bunns appeared in court on incest charges Wednesday. The judge ordered them to stay away from each other, according to the Miami Herald. Justin’s bail was set at $5,000 while Taylor’s bail was set at $1,000, the reports
Wait a sec, why is dad’s bail 5 times higher than the daughters? Sexism, plain and simple.
TBH, I’m surprised they still have incest laws in the south, aren’t they all related anyway? [just kidding]
I’m just trying to wrap my head around sending any 2 adults to jail for a consensual act. Yeah, we still have some states with sodomy laws, some even have adultery laws, remnants of a bygone era where sex outside the confines of marriage was criminalized, but when enforced, the arbitrariness of enforcement erodes confidence in the rule of law and unfairly singles out those blindsided by the charge. Individual cases of incest can reflect equally arbitrariness, injecting the heavy hand of the judiciary in places not needed. Of course I recognize the “authoritative” dynamic in play here, like the teacher/student or President/intern, so each case must be weighed. But common sense restraint in applying the spirit and not the letter demands proper due process. In this case, tell them to take it inside behind closed doors, then go back to the do-nut shop.
Yes, this is really creepy and no doubt the pets living next door were traumatized for life. This is what happens when the Frisbee ends up on the roof and there is nothing else to do.
