Today is the greatest day in a long time.  Yes, last night was the last night of my kids’ soccer (football, for those of you outside of Trumplandia) season.  I have finally reclaimed my Tuesday and Thursday nights for doing whatever the hell I want to do.

Let’s all enjoy our leisure time with this beautiful Spring weather with some music about rest, recreation, and sports, games, and other activities.  I’m particularly interested in hearing some Yacht Rock this week.  Give me the music you chill and play to.

Santino: Higher Love by Steve Winwood

pfluffy: Steal Away by Robert Dupree

Rich Taylor: Time for Me to Fly by REO Speedwagon

WVR: Take Me to the River by Talking Heads.  That’s one of my favorite Spring cookout themes.  Don’t know why.

That’s it?  You people are too relaxed.  How about some more participation this week?

Would you like to be included in next week’s dedications?  Share a song now.

    Comfortably Numb

  2. Rich nailed it with Loverboy and so did pfluffy with Joe Jackson. That’s exactly where I am at.

  3. Find the river by REM is my napping song.

Other ‘chill’ sings are mainly from my University times when I, ahem, had need of a chill soundtrack quite often.

    Morcheeba – the sea

    Sexy Boy – Air

The Football (it’s played with the feet, guys) season still has a couple of weeks left, including the mighty Liverpool in the Champions League Final – So I’ll be singing a lot of this.

And then we’re into the World Cup! Start the unrealistic expectations now!

Sweet Child O’ MIne | Bluegrass Cover | Thunder and Rain

    Zac Brown Band – Toes

Little Big Town – Pontoon some yacht

Bob Seger – Turn The Page (1973 Radio Version)

Darrell Scott – You’ll never leave Harlan alive (Justified) This has become one of my favorite tunes, i play this a lot when im down in my shop. Kick ass TV series too.

Simple Man – Lynyrd Skynyrd – Lyrics HD

and finally one of the best relaxation songs….

    Stairway To Heaven

  5. And then we’re into the World Cup! Start the unrealistic expectations now!

Hah! At least you have a team to be disappointed in. 🙂

    Darius Rucker – Wagon Wheel

I was in Nashville last November. I swear I heard that song in every bar I went to.

  6. One kind of music I rebelled against my entire life.

Well, you have outlasted that particular genre. Yacht Rock is extinct. It’s hard for me to get away from though. It was sort of the ambient music of my youth and that seems to put me in a calmer, more relaxed mood.

Besides, you just don’t hear saxophones anymore.

    Baker Street – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU6w56epBdc

  7. I have no idea what Yacht Rock is,

Ah, how to explain Yacht Rock? It’s that harmless but catchy music from the late 70’s to early 80’s that was technically rock music but so “safe” and non-rebellious that upper class twats could entertain parties with it playing on their huge boats.

Think Hall and Oates, or the Glenn Frey that WVR just posted.
