Well, slap me silly and call me Shirley. One of the country’s most woke SJW CEO’s just figured a few things out. The left needs to veer right, the country cannot afford to keep giving people free shit, and economic growth is the secret to national prosperity. Dang, what’s gotten in to him?
Many leaders in the Democratic Party are veering too far left and overpromising government programs that are not fiscally possible, Howard Schultz told CNBC on Tuesday.
Without naming names, Schultz said in a “Squawk Box” interview: “It concerns me that so many voices within the Democratic Party are going so far to the left. I say to myself, ‘How are we going to pay for these things,’ in terms of things like single payer [and] people espousing the fact that the government is going to give everyone a job. I don’t think that’s realistic.”
“I think we got to get away from these falsehoods and start talking about the truth and not false promises” said Schultz, whose Monday announcement that he’s stepping down as executive chairman of Starbucks is driving speculation that he may run for president in the 2020 election.
OK, is this a scam or is he on to something?
Yeah, this guy has more baggage then an unemployed incel who has his dead mom stashed in a foot locker. Running a publicly-traded company as a social experiment to the chagrin of shareholders is not a textbook method for increasing profits. Here is just a small sample of his greatest hits;
- He pledged to hire 10,000 refugees as a way of protesting the Trump Administration’s immigration policies.
- He declared his coffee establishments national “gun free zones,”.
- He eliminated Christmas-themed decorations from the company’s holiday cups and merchandise.
- In an attempt to encourage conversations about race and gender he had his employees write buzzwords on the customers cups and engage customers with preachy SJW sayings and slogans.
Customer push back hurt profits, but no matter, the end goal was to further his progressive agenda.
But now the possible Democratic candidate has moderated his views in trying to re-brand an image that until recently was more aligned with some hippie old guy from Vermont.
“I think the greatest threat domestically to the country is this $21 trillion debt hanging over the cloud of America and future generations,” Schultz said. “The only way we’re going to get out of that is we’ve got to grow the economy, in my view, 4 percent or greater. And then we have to go after entitlements.”
Holy smokes, how did this guy get in my head? He is exactly right. As a fiscal responsibility guy who longs for a balanced budget amendment, I have always felt that job one with our government should be to get our financial house in order. Notice that he didn’t parrot the same old tired trope the typical democrat spews with knee jerk rigor; namely that we have to raise taxes. He is a businessman, so I assume he understands that a vibrant economy is the key to fiscal responsibility. Does he really understand that an increase in GDP growth will result in an increase in tax revenues? An economy wonk who understands the need for entitlement reform. Is he the only Democrat in the country who gets this?
Yes, I admit this is easier said then done. Understood. But it has to start somewhere. For any parent out there ,or anyone at all that cares about the future of the nation; the national debt is real, it is dangerous and as one economist put it ,”We can continue growing our debt…………..until we can’t”.
