My favorite apple? Fuji. One day I’m going to chop down the diseased and aging dogwood in my front yard and plant a Fuji apple tree.
There has been much in the news about “incivility” lately, so we are not alone in thinking that a real problem exists in America when it comes to just getting along. As we head into the week of the 4th of July, I hope we can see that we have more in common that we think we do. Let us please, as a nation, stop beating at caricatures of each other and try to learn what makes each other tick. Most people that I know, left and right and in between, love their husbands, wives, moms, dads, kids, dogs, cats, homes and country. That is actually what is important. I am not leaving out our non-American friends at all. You all love the same things that we do.
Let’s celebrate the holiday with songs about:
- Summer – I don’t know about where you live, but it is hot and humid here in Atlanta. We have a couple of days when it storms and cools things down, but it gets pretty miserable in July. Play songs about summer, hot weather, and trying to get cool. Beach music.
- Love – Play songs about loving people and anything else not having to do with politics or ideology.
- Country – Play songs about America. It IS the anniversary of our independence from King George, so this category is for songs about America this week, but it doesn’t have to be patriotic. Just America. Apple pie. Whatever you associate with America.
Here is the playlist
