So, I am finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel. My summer has been much like Thrill’s in that I have just been swamped and just keeping my head down and getting the things done that I have to and letting the rest slide. Like I said on the open thread, over the summer as I finished my paper, helped my son with a year of world history over the summer and then back to school, went to see my mom, and dealt with a very sick dog (he didn’t make it). My home and garden and basically anything that was optional went to shit.
We had a couple of weeks of non-stop rain, which meant no gardening and the weeds took over. I got my garden out late anyway, so I really didn’t get much from it. I ask myself each year why I do it, but the truth is, I do love having a garden. I tried to get my son and his friend to weed for me but they can’t tell a weed from a tomato. I give up and I am going to raze it this weekend now that I am not writing a paper any longer.
I am moving on to fall, taking a trip to LA to visit my father, who has finally recovered from his heart attack and pneumonia event from spring, getting ready for my son’s sixteenth birthday (fuck!) and Halloween. Fall almost always brings good times with the cool weather and I am ready to get to it.
So, this week’s themes are:
- Head Down – play songs about getting things done and persevering
- Cut Your Losses – Songs about fishing or cutting bait. Not everything is worth the effort required to fix or keep it.
- Moving On – Songs about moving forward. It is over, now what do you do?
Here is the playlist:
