Welcome to Year 2 of our blog! February 11th will be the anniversary. Remember back then, when we started? Back when Trump-Russia conspiracy theories were a thing and people took them seriously? That was crazy! Ha ha ha ha….ahhh. I love you all.
Even if certain things don’t much change over the years, we do. Maybe we get wiser or learn to appreciate something new. Start new jobs or start looking at life in a new way. Or maybe we lose our minds completely. At the end of the day, it’s our choice to do what we want. To be who we want to be.
In that regard, I’d like a DJ thread about this. Tell me about what’s changed for you over the past two years. What are you into now? How are you different from then? Even if nothing about your life has really changed, are you feeling any differently?
Here’s something music-related that’s changed with me. See, I’ve had Sirius-XM for a few years now. I think I’ve mentioned before that I love it. At first, the idea of paying to listen to the radio seemed daft but, oh my God, the quality of music is vastly superior to anything AM/FM has to offer.
What’s surprising to me is that over time, I have found my usual selections under the Alternative Rock umbrella to be less and less enjoyable. You know what I’ve almost entirely been enjoying? Those stations whose programming centers around Heavy Metal and (I swear this is true) Outlaw Country.
Metal just appeals to me intellectually. Outlaw Country is fun. It’s all I’m into now. Alternative Rock is…well…it’s starting to suck again. Didn’t want to admit it, but it’s true. So that’s what I want to share.
As for you, how have you transformed? I’m really interested in those aspects of your life that have changed in such a way that even you would’ve been surprised two years ago. Where is your story going? Oh, for music, just share something you’re into or something you were introduced to
Dedications! For those who have stayed active at this, our 2 year anniversary. I’m just starting off with the Outlaw Country. There’ll be Metal in the thread.
pfluffy – Thank you for helping with the DJ threads. I appreciate your support more than I can say and love everything you post!
Longer Than You’ve Been Alive by Old 97’s
Santino – Hell No, I Ain’t Happy by Drive By Truckers
WVR – Devil May Care by Sarah Shook and the Disarmers. My favorite song at the moment for you, our first commenter.
I’m with you on the Alternative Rock genre. I found a good radio station that plays some harder music, and find myself rarely listening to Alternative Rock. It’s losing the rock part, I think. My life is pretty boring and steady. I can’t think of anything that has changed other than my age. I’m glad that my mother is still kicking around at 83 and in her third year of dialysis (the power of the will to live is incredible). I still have the same job, still come to this site on a daily basis, and I still post on… Read more »
I was first? Awww…
In the past two years, I had a heart attack (in 2016), moved, and got older.
So I read where the kids now prefer older music to today’s. There may be some hope yet for this generation after all.

Hey, boring and steady is good, Santino. It’s a blessing to be satisfied with life!
Let’s bring on some more metal. Can’t get enough. I wish all songs sounded like this one:
Room 24 by Volbeat (featuring King Diamond) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPHPhII997w
Demolition Man by Flotsam and Jetsam – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPMcqTsws5E
All Out Life by Slipknot – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ncd1har8tY
It’s definitely true. I’m hoping today’s children fill the void and produce some gifted musicians AND provide a market for quality music.
My beloved Bose headphones just died after 7 years of hard work. RIP.

The bottom dropped out for us recently; our son is struggling with some serious issues. It will get better, but you are certainly right, Thrill. It can ALWAYS be worse and I sometimes need to remember that.
